So that means you're only good at volleyball.

No way! But I'm a setter in volleyball, I guess the equivalent in basketball is being some kind of pass specialist. Mm~ though I am also a pinch server and there's no equivalent to that in basketball at all. Point being though what I enjoy in my sport isn't something that other sports really care about. It's not so simple as 'being good', see?

Aren't you more the kind of guy who'd prefer to score himself?

Who doesn't enjoy scoring themselves? Feeling like the only person who can't contribute to the team offensively would be hard for anyone who isn't the libero. But that's not the true power of a setter of course~ The setter clears the way in front of whoever is scoring points, whether it's the ace or even a first year hitter.

You can't just rely on power or being good in any sport~. Even basketball must rely on some amount of teamwork, isn't that true~?

And besides that! I'm captain, right? What kind of captain isn't good at directing his teammates!

Well, I guess in basketball you could afford to play on your own, but ... Rather than that, I think it's a lot more fun to play with everyone.

A captain though, really? To be honest, I'm not mature enough to understand what it's like to be in that position at all. My job is to lead my team to victory, after all.

Aces who don't understand how teams work, and geniuses who don't understand how teams work . . . is there any worse combination . . .?

Eh... when you put it like that, it sounds pretty bad. But it's not as bad if they learn to rely on their teammates, is it?

. . . it's true though, isn't it~? A genius who has never had difficulty will never see any reason to improve without being faced with the harsh reality of the situation!

Ah ... I can't really deny that. If I hadn't been defeated, then I wouldn't have come to rely on my teammates at all. If I became stronger since then, it's thanks to that.

But I do know one genius who believed in teammwork from the start. Even though he's not the ace at all.

What did it feel like~ . . .?

I've never lost a match before then, so it felt really bad. I even ended up crying.

But even though I hate losing, I'm grateful for that. Just like I said, playing with everyone is more fun after all. I wanted to win because I hated losing, but now it's a litte different. When I think about leading my team to victory, it's because I love my team.

Does this make it a litte more bearable for you-- talking to a genius ace?

More bearable? It's nothing like that! I've just never been on that side of things, y'know? Usually I'm on the other side.

Dealing with geniuses who want to do everything themselves?

But isn't it the Captain's job to make them behave...?
